General Partner, Highland Capital Partners
During the dawn of the Internet was the Founder, President and CEO of Lycos, Inc. (LCOS), one of the world’s first search engines. I led Lycos from a startup with $2M in venture funding to become the most visited online destination in the world, the fastest IPO in Nasdaq history (nine months), exceeding Wall Street estimates for 24 consecutive quarters until being acquired for $12.5B in 2000. I then served as the CEO of the newly created Terra Lycos whose market value peaked at almost $30B. The Lycos experience was exhilarating but when Highland asked if I’d consider joining them for a career in a venture capital, I couldn’t resist. The opportunity to help passionate entrepreneurs build next generation companies of consequence was exciting and fulfilling. I’ve loved every day of it!
